Shawn Sweeney has been named VP of data and analytics at KBM Group, a new position. The post is effective August 11. Sweeney will report to Andy Rutberg, chief data officer and president of global services at KBM Group and to Kass Sells, Wunderman Seattle’s managing director.
“We were looking for data leadership,” said Sells. “[We wanted] somebody to have a seat at the table with account strategy and creative leaders. Data is a big part of our offering and our work across Microsoft.”
Sweeney will work closely with Sells, who is global client lead for the Wunderman network’s engagement with Microsoft, and with the Wunderman creative team to connect, manage and optimize all global Microsoft marketing campaigns.
Wunderman was awarded Microsoft’s direct marketing account in 2009. The account was expanded in 2010. Microsoft named a new CMO in April. The company’s domestic advertising budget totals roughly $1.1 billion, according to Advertising Age.
Sweeney was previously consumer practice director at Slalom Consulting. In that role he led strategy, marketing automation and customer insight engagements for Microsoft, among other brands.
