Colin Kinsella, currently the chief innovation officer at Razorfish, was appointed president for North America at Digitas, effective January 1, 2010. Both agencies are owned by Publicis Groupe.
He will oversee the company’s North American operations and report directly to Laura Lang, CEO. He has three direct reports, he said, adding that Digitas has “been able to grow in a very difficult environment for all companies.”
The position, most recently held by Lang, has been vacant since she was elevated to her current role last year. Jim Rossman, former COO at Digitas, left the company in March to join AKQA as president and COO.
Prior to serving as Razorfish’s chief innovation officer, Kinsella worked as president of the company’s West division and general manager for California.
Last December, Digitals announced it was laying off 2% of its 2,100 US employees as part of a restructuring effort.
Razorfish, which Publicis agreed to acquire in August from Microsoft, conducted a corporate reorganization earlier this year that saw it close offices in Boston and Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
Digitas also announced that Tony Weisman, president of Digitas Chicago, will become global client leader in addition to his current responsibilities.
