Maponics LLC, a provider of hyper-local geographic data, announced the launch of Maponics International Neighborhood Boundaries today. First released in beta earlier this year, this dataset will include neighborhoods for approximately 100 cities in more than 15 European Union countries by the end of 2009.
Maponics specializes in location-based data and information for businesses, including neighborhood, ZIP Code and carrier route boundaries.
“By expanding from the US to Canada to the EU and beyond, our global-minded customers can offer a consistent local search experience,” said Maponics CEO Darrin Clement, in an e-mailed comment. “And, we are still the only commercial-grade data with clear, single-line boundaries between neighborhoods. This allows search results to be associated with one distinct neighborhood, not two or more, as seen when neighborhoods are allowed to overlap.”
Maponics International Neighborhood Boundaries is available for quarterly delivery in SHP, KML and many other file formats. It also can be accessed via the Maponics Spatial API for companies who would prefer to outsource data hosting and management.
