Database management company May & Speh Inc. and Metzler & Associates, a subsidiary of the Metzler Group Inc., a provider of management consulting services to the energy industry, formed Energy Market Connect (EMC).
The joint venture will provide strategic marketing solutions for the energy industry.
“In late 1996, when we decided we were going to become a player in the energy services area, we decided that we needed a partner to help us learn about the industry, even though it may take some time,” said George E. Bardenheier Jr., managing director of EMC. “We knew Metzler would have the expertise we needed since they have been a consultant to the energy services industry since 1982.”
EMC will counsel retail energy providers — including utilities and energy service companies — on marketing strategies to retain customers, acquire customers and expand product offerings. Its initial offering is Energy Database Connect, a suite of database marketing services that offer an integrated, comprehensive solution that transforms corporate objectives into actionable retail mass market plans.
The new company will offer a two-phase process, where Metzler first will “go in on a high-level early on in the process and help the utility customer with how to prepare for deregulation, what product mixes to offer,” Bardenheier said. “Then, those consulting services are blended with the execution, implementation and technology skills that May & Speh offer.”
EMC will charge companies from $300,000 for basic direct marketing services –where it will buy data for the company and do the file consolidation and the merge-purge — to $2 million for full-services, including decision support services.
