Database marketing agency Merkle has appointed VP Pete Mehr, Ph.D., as chief strategy officer for its healthcare marketing practice, which launched earlier this year.
Mehr’s responsibilities will include developing and overseeing the execution of physician relationship and consumer/patient relationship marketing programs. He will partner with Jeff Wiltrout, Ph.D., who is VP and GM of Merkle’s healthcare practice.
“We are seeing increasing interest among pharma companies for highly focused quantitative marketing programs, and there is an urgency to evolve from what has been a traditionally brand-centric approach to a customer-centric business model,” said Mehr, in a statement. He added that his goal is to innovate in the pharmaceutical marketplace by integrating best practices and thinking from other verticals with Merkle’s knowledge of the pharmaceutical sector.
Mehr joined Merkle in 2006 after spending more than 12 years in senior level roles with top pharmaceutical and biotech companies.
