Accomplished designer Nejc Prah has teamed up with an anonymous collective to visually rebrand Center Rog, a prestigious Ljubljana venue previously a factory. With twenty studios, seven shops, and a café, Center Rog is known for creating diverse activities. The facility’s unique history and current attributes are being woven into a fresh, vibrant brand by Prah and his team amidst the challenge of integrating a wealth of different elements.
The initial assignment entailed crafting a visual concept that mirrored various pursuits while preserving the venue’s inventive aura. Prah, coupled with Klemen Ilovar, Matija Medved, and Dan Adlešič, attained this through a spectrum of design features, including branding, signage, and advertising designs. They embraced teamwork and combined their unique talents to conceive an appealing and cohesive concept encapsulating the establishment’s spirit and diversity.
The new brand fuses illustration and photography to depict Matija Medved’s graphic art and Klemen Ilovar’s in-depth photographic style. This intriguing combination tells a unique story surrounding the pastoral beauty within inanimate objects, highlighting Matija’s delicate artistic style and Klemen’s eye for detail.
The diverse design methodology is also visible in the signage, which boasts a variety of styles and consistent typography and colors.
Nejc Prah’s dynamic rebranding of Center Rog
Despite the variations, Prah and his team ensure each sign and poster delivers its intended message powerfully. While the aesthetics might differ, the core elements remain the same, offering each unique requirement the flexibility to adapt without compromising the group’s signature aesthetic.
To avoid overwhelming color combinations, the designers have opted for a simplified color palette. Grey is used in lieu of white for the backdrop, with pops of bright hues scattered throughout. Center Rog’s bold, standout logo has been intentionally fashioned to oppose conventional modern art establishment emblems. The design aims to disrupt the monotony, visually representing dynamism and creativity.
The simple but effective logo uses a blend of angular and soft rounded shapes and a balance of positive and negative spacing. The refresh project is seen as vibrant and dynamic, set to develop alongside the venue’s evolution. Although the logo has subtle contours, an exciting interplay of lines and curves works together to represent the venue’s ongoing growth and transformation.
