Oppo Find N5 launches February 20 globally

The Oppo Find N5 is set to make waves in the foldable smartphone market when it launches globally next week. Touted as the world’s thinnest foldable phone, the Find N5 aims to challenge Samsung’s dominance in this segment with its sleek design and impressive specifications. Oppo CEO Pete Lau has been teasing the Find N5 on social media, highlighting its record-breaking thinness.

Measuring just around 4.2mm or even thinner when unfolded, the Find N5 is expected to be more comfortable to handle than rivals like the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Pixel 9 Pro Fold, which measure 5.6mm and 5.1mm respectively. The Find N5 is also expected to set new standards in durability, with an IPX9 rating providing resistance to high-pressure water jets. This marks a significant advancement in water resistance for foldable phones, surpassing the IPX8 rating of the Honor Magic V3 and the IP48 and IP68 ratings of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Pixel 9 Pro Fold, respectively.

In terms of display, the Find N5 is rumored to feature a 6.85-inch LTPO screen with 2K resolution and a dynamic refresh rate. It will likely be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and could feature 16GB of RAM.

The device is also expected to have a 6,000mAh battery with Silicon Carbon technology, coupled with 80W wired charging. One of the most exciting features of the Find N5 is its camera setup. The device is rumored to feature a triple Hasselblad camera with a periscope telephoto lens, promising a fantastic camera experience that could set a new standard for foldable phones.

The Find N5 will be available in black and white, with a striking purple vegan leather model exclusive to China. It runs on Oppo’s ColorOS, an Android skin known for its robust multitasking features. While the Find N5 is initially launching in China and other international markets, it is expected to eventually reach American consumers, possibly branded as the OnePlus Open 2.

This device is set to challenge every flagship foldable phone on the market, promising better battery life, a superior camera, faster charging, and improved durability, all at a potentially more affordable price point. As the launch of the Oppo Find N5 approaches, it is clear that this device has the potential to bridge the feature gap between foldable and non-foldable phones, setting new standards and spurring increased competition in the foldable phone market.
