The leader of the Catholic Church is using mobile marketing to connect with a younger audience. At World Youth Day, a six day event in Sydney in July, the papal leader will be sending out thousands of texts with messages of hope. During the event “digital prayer walls” will be erected and there is even talk of a Catholic social networking site. A good way to get teens attention, but I can’t help but thinking of the Simpsons in which the TV ad for the Catholic Church touts sexy women and booze with the tag line, “The Catholic Church, we’ve changed.”
