The Web’s anticipation of Amazon’s Prime Day peaked Tuesday afternoon, as #PrimeDay once again proliferated the Twitter trending list.
Amazon’s ability to deliver on its promise to out-deal Black Friday remains questionable, but the spontaneous sales event has at least succeeded in galvanizing consumers, producing much of the fervor that dominates the traditional fall shopping season. To consumer’s delight, retailers have also responded to Prime Day, with Walmart going as far as announcing its own day of deep discounts in a bid to compete with Amazon.
