The quick commerce industry is poised to reach a scale by 2025 that will make it comparable to e-commerce giants like Amazon and Flipkart, according to Zepto co-founder and CEO Aadit Palicha. In a LinkedIn post on New Year’s Eve, Palicha emphasized that 2024 would be the year people begin to realize the substantial potential of quick commerce in India. He outlined three key forecasts for the upcoming year, stressing the transformative growth expected in 2025.
“In 2025, Quick Commerce will actually start hitting a scale where it will become comparable to e-commerce,” he wrote. Zepto, gearing up for its initial public offering (IPO), reported a 120 per cent increase in operating revenue to ₹4,454 crore in FY24, surpassing competitors like Swiggy’s Instamart and Zomato’s Blinkit. Palicha attributed this success to “exceptional execution,” noting that it will be challenging for any player to consistently deliver at such a high level.
“The fundamentals of Quick Commerce will evolve dramatically in 2025,” he added.

“The customer value proposition will level up quickly.
The unit economics and initiatives to build operating leverage will change. The capital markets environment for this industry, from private to public, will also look different compared to 2024 and 2023.”
Sharing some New Year’s Eve sale metrics, Palicha announced that Zepto saw a 200 per cent increase in orders compared to the previous year, handling lakhs of orders per hour. “India’s New Year celebrations are in full swing—3,345 ice cube orders per hour and counting,” he noted.
Zepto’s peer Blinkit also reported a record-breaking day on December 31. Blinkit CEO Albinder Dhindsa shared via social media that the company achieved its highest-ever orders in a day, along with the highest orders per minute (OPM), orders per hour (OPH), and total tips given to delivery partners in a single day. Blinkit also recorded the most grapes sold in a day, aligning with the trending tradition of eating 12 grapes at midnight—a practice rooted in Spanish culture symbolizing good luck and prosperity for the year ahead.
As the quick commerce sector continues to evolve, companies like Zepto and Blinkit are setting notable benchmarks, hinting at the significant shifts and potential ahead as we look towards 2025.
