FreeShipping.org generated more than $250,000 in sales for retailers like JC Penney, Target and Bloomingdale’s in May by offering consumers a one-stop destination for finding free shipping deals.
FreeShipping.org was launched in December. Fueled by escalating gas prices, traffic has doubled on the site each month since its launch.
“People respond more favorably to free shipping than a discount coupon,” said Luke Knowles, co-founder of the site, in a statement.
Convenience in one of the factors that make online shopping appealing to many consumers and free shipping further enhances the appeal, according to Maisie Knowles, co-founder of the site.
“By creating a single site where consumers can find online retailers that offer free shipping deals, we are saving visitors time and money, which is something that interests everyone,” she said in a statement.
There are currently more than 750 name-brand stores on the site, which visitors can search by brand or category. Macy’s is one of the site’s top partners, offering as many as 15 free shipping coupons at one time. The site expects to have more than 1,000 retailers on board by the end of the year.
