The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) registered a record 3,442 companies in January 2025. This marks a 39% growth compared to the monthly average of the previous year. The IT and e-commerce sectors saw the most growth with 652 new companies.

The trading sector followed with 463 new companies. The services sector added 411 companies. Real estate development and construction registered 311 new companies.

Other sectors also saw growth. Tourism and transport added 242 companies. Healthcare and pharmaceuticals registered 233 new companies.

Food and beverages added 158 companies. The education sector registered 124 new companies. Fuel and energy added 81 new companies.

Mining and quarrying registered 119 companies.

Record company registrations in January

Marketing and advertisement added 86 companies.

The textile sector registered 79 new companies. Corporate agricultural farming added 73 new companies. 650 companies were registered in other sectors.

These include auto and allied industries, power generation, sports, and tobacco. 58% of the new registrations were private companies. 38% were single-member companies.

The remaining 4% included unlisted companies, non-profit organizations, trade organizations, and LLPs. The SECP credits this growth to its digital transformation and simplified registration processes. It also cites its facilitative regulatory framework as a factor.

The surge in company registrations reflects Pakistan’s growing entrepreneurial ecosystem. It also shows increasing investor confidence in the country’s regulatory framework. The SECP says it will continue to foster a business-friendly environment.

It aims to promote ease of doing business in Pakistan.
