Sophie Ellis-Bextor stars as Santa in Freemans’ new Christmas ad campaign. The online retailer teamed up with the singer to kick off the holiday season early this year. In the 30-second commercial, Ellis-Bextor delivers gifts to families on a snowy street called “Sleigh Street.” She is joined by a “style squad” dressed in the latest seasonal fashion from Freemans.

The ad is set to the tune of Ellis-Bextor’s song “Freedom of the Night.” It has already launched on social media and will start airing on TV today, October 25th. Richard Cristofoli, Freemans’ Chief Customer Officer, said: “Tis the season to start Christmas shopping.

The two-month Christmas countdown is on and most consumers are starting early to spread the cost of the festive season.”

He added: “By launching now, we have two pay days to go until the big day and we’re offering more help and advice than ever before via our Style Squad, making it easier for customers to nail the perfect gift and manage their festive finances.”

Cristofoli noted that while they can’t promise Ellis-Bextor will personally deliver the gifts, they can promise shoppers will find the right presents at the right price when they shop with Freemans. Loren Cook, creative director at MullenLowe, the agency behind the campaign, said: “Our aim was to deliver a campaign that showcases Freemans as the destination for stylish, curated, and thoughtful gifts this festive season.”

Cook described Ellis-Bextor as “formidable” and said anyone would be thrilled if she turned up at their door with the perfect gift. “Wholesome, stylish, and family-minded, Ellis-Bextor is a great Christmas rep—even if she has arrived a bit early this year,” Cook added.

This marks the second campaign Freemans has done with Ellis-Bextor, who also starred in last year’s Mother’s Day ad for Marks & Spencer. The new Christmas spot aims to inspire shoppers while offering ways to help them manage the cost of their holiday shopping.
