Doug Sweeny has resigned as VP of global brand marketing at Levi Strauss & Co. to join Young & Rubicam (Y&R) as head of West Coast operations, the agency said May 6.
He will begin work at the firm early next month and will be responsible for leading its San Francisco and Irvine, Calif. offices with Y&R West chief creative officer Joe Kayser, the company said in a statement.
He will report to Tom Sebok, president and CEO of Y&R North America, the agency said in a statement.
Sweeny spent the past four years at Levi’s. Previously, he was the managing director of TBWA’s Chiat office and VP and account director at Hal Riney & Partners.
Levi’s named Rebecca Van Dyck global CMO in March. She previously served as senior director of worldwide marketing and communications at Apple. Van Dyck replaced Jamie Szulc, who left Levi’s in August 2010.
Y&R has 186 offices in 90 countries. Its client roster includes Virgin Atlantic Airways, Xerox Corp. and Bacardi.
Levi’s could not be reached immediately for comment.
