Sameer Singh, a top advertising executive at TikTok, is leaving the company next month, according to an internal memo. Singh, who joined TikTok in 2019, currently serves as the General Manager for the company’s global business solutions in North America. His departure comes at a challenging time for TikTok, which is facing the possibility of a ban in the United States.
The app could be removed from U.S. app stores on January 19 pending a court decision. In the memo, Blake Chandlee, the president of global business solutions at TikTok, highlighted Singh’s significant contributions to the company. When Singh first joined TikTok, he led monetization efforts in India and helped manage changes following the India ban in 2020.
Singh also played a key role in establishing TikTok’s business presence in Brazil, Southeast Asia, and the Asia-Pacific region.
Sameer Singh exits from TikTok
Two years ago, he took the lead of the North American ads business.
Throughout 2024, Sam has led our teams in the U.S. and Canada through an unprecedented political environment, dedicated to protecting our incredible users, creators, and the business partners that use TikTok every day,” Chandlee wrote. Singh’s last day at TikTok will be at the end of February. He will return to India at the end of January and remain available to support the North American team through his final month.
TikTok plans to immediately begin the search for a new leader to oversee its North American business. In the interim, starting February 1st, all of Singh’s direct reports will report to Chandlee until a successor is found. Although we cannot share his next career step, I am excited for Sam and his next chapter,” the memo stated.
Please join me in thanking Sam for his countless contributions and wishing him continued success.”
Singh did not immediately respond to a request for comment on his departure from TikTok.
