United Airlines and FedEx have announced a partnership to ship airline passenger’s luggage between destinations.
The two are offering door-to-door, overnight delivery of luggage in the continental U.S.
Customers have the option of dropping off baggage at a FedEx location or scheduling a pick-up at a residence or place of business.
The Door-to-Door Baggage option is available for customers traveling on United Airlines flights within the 48 contiguous United States. This option becomes available 10 days prior to the associated flight departure date.
Door-to-Door Baggage scheduling is based on FedEx operating hours and the FedEx holiday schedule, which are subject to change without notice. Shipments cannot be picked up, dropped off or delivered on Sundays.
The cost will be $149 one-way for a suitcase or other item of up to 50 pounds carried less than 1,000 miles and $179 for the same piece transported more than 1,000 miles. Baggage can be shipped to any U.S. address, or shippers can opt to have it held for pick-up at a FedEx location.
For most addresses, baggage will be delivered by 4:30pm local time the day after it is received by FedEx, the company said.
