W—E Studio, under the leadership of Piera Wolf and Claudine Eriksson, was instrumental in setting a new editorial vision for a famous biannual magazine. They were able to refocus the magazine, pushing the boundaries of visible communication, and uniquely blending art and editorial content. Even though the magazine has now transitioned away from print, the legacy left by Wolf and Eriksson continues to resonate in the brand’s narrative and aesthetics.

One of the major objectives for Wolf and Eriksson was to uphold the magazine’s commitment to merging fashion and art while redefining its identity. They embarked on this journey with passion and excitement. The redesign involved introducing novel design elements, featuring emerging talents and a mix of artists, photographers, and stylists. They also embraced the inherent challenges, holding firm to their vision.

Wolf and Eriksson worked diligently with an ambitious goal, not only to preserve but also to elevate the magazine’s image. They aimed to create a publication amalgamating art, fashion, fashion, and culture. Their relentless dedication and unique approach redefined the magazine, blending classic legacy with a modern twist.

Their strategy involved a comprehensive review of past issues and fine-tuning of content based on reader demographic and interest.

Reimagining a magazine’s aesthetics and identity

A focus was also put on collaborating with experienced photographers and writers to produce high-quality, thought-provoking content. Optimal balance between text and visuals was an essential consideration, to ensure that both complemented each other beautifully.

The magazine also reassessed its marketing strategies to boost its visibility and drive financial success. Recognising the emerging significance of digital platforms, efforts were made to develop an intuitive and attractive digital version of the magazine.

The vision was to develop a dynamic, engaging publication that strikes a balance between recognition of the past and anticipation for the future trends. W—E Studio aimed at creating a distinctive editorial system that was unpredictable yet authentic.

To achieve this, they updated typography, increased the use of white space, and incorporated minimalist design aesthetics. Large-scale design elements were added enhancing flexibility and maintaining visual identity. Additionally, unique graphics and infographics were included to break up text-heavy content.

The final print issue, themed on the number 777, was a representation of divine perfection, progress, transformation, and motivation. The design included spherical holographic foiling on the coveted spine and abstract, organic figures in the content.

As the magazine transitions to digital, the team aims at creating engaging narratives and visually impressive content. Irrespective of the platform, the focus remains on creating intriguing stories and redefining boundaries with each issue. With a fresh perspective on every edition, Wolf and Eriksson strive to give a unique identity that resonates with their readers.
