Marketing services company Worldata, Boca Raton, FL, on March 5 launched 1SmartSite.com, a one-stop site for online users looking to download shareware and freeware or test beta software directly from software publishers' download pages. Visitors can search for downloadable software by category and/or platform and can link to the download sites of their choice. Users who want to access beta software and new releases must register with 1SmartSite.com. These members can opt in to receive information on future beta offers and can offer feedback to 1SmartSite.com on the trialware that they have downloaded. 1SmartSite.com, which is advertiser-supported, will make that feedback available to the software publishers. “Here, the software publishers will get a chance to talk to the consumers or the businessperson themselves about the benefits of the software,” said Worldata CEO Roy Schwedelson. “And since each of the servers at the software publishers' sites has been built to download their particular software, users will be able download in the most efficient and expedient way — instead of having a general download area, which is how other search engines work.”
