Amazon.com will launch a promotion on Dec. 10 to entice consumers shopping in brick-and-mortar retail stores to purchase products through Amazon at a discount.
The promotion is available to consumers who use Amazon’s Price Check mobile app to compare in-store prices with those on Amazon. To compare pricing, consumers can scan a product’s barcode, take its photo and speak or type its name via the app, said Amazon spokesperson Sally Fouts via email.
To participate in the promotion, consumers can use the app with their mobile devices’ location services enabled to identify a qualifying product and place the product into their shopping cart within the app. Consumers who complete the purchase via Amazon within 24 hours of placing the product into their shopping carts will receive up to a $5 discount off Amazon’s price.
“The Price Check app is a great way for shoppers to ensure they’re getting the best possible prices. This [promotion] is an added incentive for customers to use the Price Check app to make sure they’re getting great deals,” Fouts said.
Eligible product categories are electronics, toys, sports, music and DVDs. Discounts are limited to three per consumer and one per product.
