Apple has officially discontinued all iPhones with 64GB of storage, making 128GB the new standard for entry-level models. This change comes with the launch of the iPhone 16e, which starts at $599, a slight increase from the previously rumored sub-$500 price point. The move addresses the growing concerns about the inadequacy of 64GB storage in meeting the demands of modern smartphone usage.

Users will now have more space for apps, photos, and other digital content. The iPhone 16e will be available in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB variants, catering to different storage needs.

Apple sets new storage standard

It will feature an A18 chip, Face ID, USB-C, and a single-lens rear camera, offering cutting-edge technology at a more accessible price. Apple’s decision to phase out 64GB iPhones aligns with its focus on integrating more artificial intelligence into its devices. The iPhone 16 series will introduce new visual intelligence features, enhanced notification summaries, and other updates previewed at WWDC in June 2024.

The only Apple product still offering a 64GB storage tier is the iPad, but this option is expected to be discontinued with the launch of the iPad 11 later this year. As Apple continues to innovate and expand its product lineup, the increased storage capacity in iPhones reflects the company’s commitment to enhancing user experience and meeting smartphone users’ growing demands.
