Club Quarters Hotels now lets guests use their phones as room keys. The hotel chain has added support for digital wallet keys across all its properties in the US and UK. Guests can store and use mobile room keys in their digital wallets on Android and iPhone devices.

This means they do not need to download a separate hotel app. Club Quarters claims to be the first hotel chain to integrate this technology fully across its entire portfolio. All Club Quarters hotels will support room keys via digital wallets.

Digital keys were previously available through the Club Quarters app, which the chain introduced in 2017. The new system aims to streamline the process even further.

Guests will now receive their room key via check-in confirmation email. They can add it directly to their digital wallet. Once they complete the check-in process electronically, the room key will be activated.

Guests can then access their room by tapping their unlocked device on the door’s access panel. One standout feature is that guests can unlock their door for a few hours even if their phone’s battery is dead.

Mobile keys enhance guest convenience

This provides an extra layer of convenience. Club Quarters has not specified when these updated digital room keys will be universally available. However, reports indicate that the feature is already operational at all locations.

Club Quarters CEO John Paul Nichols said: “We truly believe that soon digital keys will displace key cards, which are less secure. We use mobile phones to board planes and enter sports and concert venues. Entering your hotel room with a digital key on your phone will become another extension of that. Club Quarters is incredibly proud to lead the industry in offering this convenience to all our customers at all of our hotels.”

Club Quarters has partnered with Vingcard to implement this service.

Vingcard provides door lock and software solutions for the hospitality industry. Each hotel is fitted with Vostio Access Management, Vingcard’s cloud-based system. It generates mobile keys and ensures robust data encryption.

This guarantees compatibility with guest digital wallets. Club Quarters operates over a dozen hotels in key cities, including:

– Philadelphia
– New York City
San Francisco
– Washington, DC
London, UK

This integration with digital wallets is part of a broader trend in the hospitality industry. Hotels are seeking to offer seamless, contactless experiences.

Using digital wallets, hotels can provide a more efficient and user-friendly check-in process. This enhances the overall guest experience.
