EuroRSCG Life acquires Medicom Group

Global health marketing and communications group Euro RSCG Life acquired UK-based medical agency Medicom Group on July 1. The company will be renamed EuroRSCG Life Medicom.

EuroRSCG Life is the healthcare network of the larger EuroRSCG Worldwide. The organization has 60 agencies in 50 countries with 2,000 employees.

Donna Murphy, managing partner at Euro RSCG Life, described the Mediacom deal as significant because it builds out the network’s presence in London, which she said is one of its three key healthcare hubs. EuroRSCG Life already has substantial offerings in Tokyo and New York.

EuroRSCG Life’s client roster includes Glaxosmithkline, Novartis, Pfizer, Sanofi-Aventis, Schering-Plough and Wyeth. The merger with Medicom adds Eli Lilly to the agency’s client list.

Martin Ellis, chairman and main shareholder of Medicom Group, will continue to manage the UK-based team. His agency specializes in peer-review publication planning and medical education for healthcare professionals and consumers.

Murphy noted the importance of using digital media to reach both medical professionals and patients.

“Traditionally digital hasn’t been infused with healthcare marketing efforts. However, everything we have done is digital,” Murphy explained. “Delivering medical information along digital portals and using a heavy social media emphasis helps us to differentiate from the pack. Doctors love to network and engage in the digital space to get information and materials.”
