A 2013 survey by Harris Interactive ranks Apple has the top rated tech company across three categories, HP and Microsoft aren’t far behind.
It might be taking a beating at the stock market, devoid of new devices and getting criticized for its commercials, but Apple is still the country’s top technology brand. It took the top spot of Brand of The Year across all three device categories, computer, tablet and mobile phone in Harris Interactive’s 2013 Harris Poll EquiTrend study. The report tracks 38,500 American consumers and their perceptions of more than 1,500 lifestyle, product and service brands across over 155 categories.
“Americans continue to give Apple brands strong ratings,” said Manny Flores, Senior Vice President at Harris Interactive. “And while their Consumer Connection scores are strong within their respective categories, what really stands out is that in all three of the categories Apple brands are measured – Computer, Tablet and Mobile Phone – its Brand Momentum scores are in the top 30 of all 1,500 brands evaluated in the study, showing that consumers see this as a brand of the future.”
Hewlett-Packard finishes in second place behind Apple, which, although down from its peak score in 2011, is still in the “above average” category. Here are the top brands for computers:

Predictably, Apple was far ahead in the tablet category, with the iPad handily beating out Amazon’s Kindle. And while Samsung might be eating its lunch when it comes to sales, the iPhone still beat it out in the mobile phone brand category. Here are the brands in both devices that finished with above average scores:

Here’s the biggest surprise, in the category for Online Computer Retailer of The Year, newcomer Newegg.com took the top spot, beating out both Apple and Microsoft’s online stores.
