Huawei has solidified its position in the Chinese foldable smartphone market, capturing more than half of all foldable sales in 2024. According to a recent market analysis by Counterpoint, the foldable smartphone market in China grew by an impressive 27% compared to the previous year, despite accounting for only 3% of overall smartphone sales in the country. Huawei’s devices were top sellers in both the book-type and clamshell-type foldable categories.
Honor was the only other manufacturer to achieve a double-digit market share, thanks to its successful foldable models. The study found that 67% of users preferred the book-type form factor over clamshell-type devices. Analysts noted that recent advancements have made foldable smartphones more lightweight, compact, durable, and equipped with better cameras, appealing to a wider range of consumers, including women.
