Levi’s names Apple’s Van Dyck global CMO

Levi’s has named Rebecca Van Dyck global CMO, effective April 19. Van Dyck, currently the senior director of worldwide marketing and communications at Apple, will replace Jaime Szulc, who left the company last August.

Van Dyck will oversee the clothing brand’s global marketing organization as it creates “more of a consistent brand voice and more of a consistent brand experience around the world,” she said.

She will report to Robert Hanson, global president of Levi’s. The leaders of the company’s marketing units, including men’s and women’s marketing, digital and social media, PR, and planning and operations, will report directly to Van Dyck.

Prior to Apple, Van Dyck led Nike‘s global account at Wieden & Kennedy, where she helped to develop the “Just Do It” campaign.

“At Wieden & Kennedy, I was always working on the international and global businesses of Nike. At Apple, we’re very global as well,” said Van Dyck. “This is the only way I know how to work actually, so I’m really excited for the opportunity to bring some of that learning to Levi’s.”

Levi’s used an outside recruiting firm in its search, said Alexa Rudin, the company’s senior director of public relations.
