PennySaverUSA.com, a subsidiary of direct and targeted marketing company, Harte-Hanks, and a provider of free online classifieds and online coupons, formally launched a mobile optimized website on February 7. The site, which now features the ability to access and post to PennySaverUSA.com on any mobile device, also allows visitors to use GPS to search for ads and coupons in their current location.
The optimized site provides a social sharing mechanism, which allows users to post more than one million classifieds ads and coupons nationwide directly to Facebook and Twitter. Posts can also be saved in a clipboard to be redeemed at a later date or to be shared through e-mail.
“Our focus has shifted from pure print to multichannel,” said So Young Park, PennySaverUSA’s VP of marketing and e-commerce. “Print will still be our bread and butter, but — like most businesses — we recognize it’s important to have a multichannel experience.
The mobile site was built by New York City-based c a technology company that builds mobile websites and applications for more than 300 clients.
PennySaverUSA.com put out an RFP to five companies. Usablenet won the business, said Park, because “it was able to deliver quickly and with minimal IT resources [provided] on the client end.”
PennySaverUSA.com was founded in 1962 as a print publication that connected buyers and sellers in California. There are more than 700 local editions that are mailed to 95% of California residents.
