Revolt London, a well-known creative agency, has undertaken an innovative rebranding project for Ovarian Cancer Action (OCA). The objective is to shed light on the sixth leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the UK, ovarian cancer. This rebranding project aims to amplify public awareness about OCA’s critical mission in combating this deadly disease.

The agency constructed a striking identity for OCA, highlighting the immediate need for ovarian cancer research and education. By mobilizing public support through stirring visuals and narratives, this endeavor might function as a turning point in decreasing the implications of ovarian cancer in the UK.

This rebranding project focused on setting OCA apart from other cancer-focused organizations. A new logo, color scheme, and messaging strategy were thus developed, making the brand more modern and user-friendly. This revamping initiative also involved clearly infusing OCA’s mission, vision, and values in all public communication.

The Creative Director, Myron Darlington, discussed the difficulty of upholding OCA’s visual identity while injecting novel elements.

Innovative rebranding of Ovarian Cancer Action

He mentioned the need to retain known elements, such as the color teal and the cancer ribbon, but reinterpret them distinctively.

A key feature of this rebranding was Revolt’s redesign of the universally accepted cancer ribbon into an ‘O. This symbol resembles an ovary, connecting OCA’s logo to its core cardinal aim. Revolt has thus created a unique symbol that stands out but still aligns with its central cause.

New typefaces and emotionally charged illustrations were also added to the mix, made by French artist Cécile Dormeau. These drawings map the emotional journey an ovarian cancer patient and their families undergo from detection to aftercare.

The reformed color palette now amalgamates traditional teal with bold orange, blue, and pink hues, each symbolizing a different aspect of the organization’s mission. The text employed throughout the company’s promotional material has also been refreshed, aiming to engage the audience directly. With these changes, OCA has paved the way toward a colorful future.
