Southend United has confirmed that Roots Hall is currently without internet service due to a major incident affecting approximately 75 businesses in the local area. The disruption is beyond the club’s control, and supporters are advised to purchase tickets for tonight’s game online as the club’s phone lines and internet service are currently down. The club said, “Following an in-depth on-site investigation by CityFibre’s Field Support team, a restoration plan has been developed, and work is currently ongoing to resolve the issue. As a result, there is currently no internet across the club, and the Ticket Office and club office phone lines are down.”

The club is liaising closely with CityFibre for regular updates and appreciates the patience and understanding of supporters during this frustrating incident affecting the area around Roots Hall. Further updates will be provided as soon as more information becomes available.

South Essex Homes and some Southend Council buildings have also been affected by the outage, which was first reported at 5 p.m. yesterday. By this morning, the internet connection had been restored to most buildings. In a recent update, Southend United has confirmed that internet service at Roots Hall has been fully restored following the “major” outage.

A club spokesman said, “We appreciate the patience and understanding of our supporters during this disruption and thank the CityFibre engineers for their swift resolution of the issue. Normal operations have resumed, including the Ticket Office and club office phone lines. We look forward to welcoming supporters to Roots Hall for this evening’s Vanarama National League game against Aldershot Town.

CityFibre, the company responsible for the internet infrastructure in the affected area, has been contacted for comment on the incident and the restoration process.
