McDonald’s New Zealand is taking the iconic Grimace Shake on a unique Kiwi road trip in their latest campaign with DDB Group. Grimace, the beloved purple character, will be joined by his Kiwi buddy, Joe Daymond, as they travel across the country in the distinctive Grimace-wagon. Their journey will include stops at famous New Zealand landmarks and various McDonald’s restaurants, giving Kiwis the opportunity to try the limited edition shake.
Luke Rive, McDonald’s New Zealand Marketing Director, said, “The Grimace Shake has become a viral phenomenon globally.
Grimace explores New Zealand landmarks
We wanted to bring that excitement to New Zealand and make Grimace feel right at home.”
DDB Chief Creative Officer, Gary Steele, expressed the team’s enthusiasm for the project, noting that everyone wanted to work with Grimace.
Karla Fisher, DDB Managing Partner, added, “There is something so inherently Kiwi about a road trip, and we’re proud to show off our unique country to Grimace.”
New Zealanders can follow Grimace and Joe’s adventure through the McDonald’s app and social media platforms. In a world first, Grimace will take over the McDonald’s app, transforming it into his own social network. The purple shake will be available for a limited time starting on October 23, and Grimace is excited to share it with fans across the country.
