‘Twas the Friday before Christmas
And all through the city
Shoppers were panicking
The scene wasn’t pretty
Would they get the right gift?
Something meaningful and fun
Unique and creative
Or would they be stuck with ho hum?
Retailers’ sales
Were over the top
Shoppers were rushing
With nary a stop
But some shoppers would pause
To graph their smartphone
Showrooming its called
The retailers would moan
Online carts were a-buzzing
Delivery was free
The result was a burgeoning
Digital shopping spree
All the sales and the gifts
As nice as they are
Should be put into perspective
Let’s not go too far
The real meaning, you know
For any holiday
Is to celebrate those we care for
In some special way
So joy to you all
Prosperity too
Not in sales, but in love
And in friends that are true.
Happy Holidays to you. And a fabulous New Year.
