Twitter hired Rob Goulding as its national inside sales manager, Twitter spokesperson Matt Graves confirmed on Jan. 18. The hire took effect yesterday.
At Twitter, Goulding is responsible for “recruiting, building business strategies and managing talent in Twitter’s large-to-medium sized advertising channel,” as stated on his LinkedIn profile, Graves confirmed.
Prior to joining Twitter, Goulding worked since 2007 as a member of Google‘s direct sales organization, most recently as head of channel advertising for the retail, consumer-packaged goods and consumer electronics verticals. He joined Google in 2006 as national sales manager for the company’s inside sales organization.
In a Jan. 13 tweet, Goulding wrote “Good bye [sic] Google > great people + generous company = Thanks!” And on Jan. 16 he directed a tweet to Twitter’s official account, among others, that said “there is no place I’d rather be starting tomorrow.”
ClickZ first reported news of the hire on Jan. 17 after Twitter chief revenue officer Adam Bain tweeted about Goulding joining the company earlier in the day.
Last June Google lost ad sales exec Penry Price, who left his post as VP of global agency sales and partnerships to become president of behavioral marketing firm Media6Degrees.
