Audience-targeting firm X+1 named Peter Massey president and COO, the company said on Jan. 12. Massey said he started with X+1 on Jan. 9.
“What attracted me to X+1 was its unique position in the marketplace. They have a platform that combines the [data management platform] space, the [demand side platform] space, the analytics, and it’s all in one where it should be,” Massey said.
Massey handles day-to-day operations, including administration, finance, operations and sales, and reports to X+1 CEO and chairman John Nardone, who recruited Massey to the company. The pair previously worked together at Modem Media, which Publicis Groupe rebranded as Publicis Modem in 2007. The company’s client solutions, sales, administration and finance departments report to Massey, he said.
Massey most recently served as CFO at JWT. He held the same title at Ogilvy & Mather, where he worked before joining JWT in 2009.
X+1 will invest in new hires, but Massey said he needs to review the company’s revenue projections to determine in which departments to add employees.
“I don’t think we have a sales problem here. We just have to get our reach out there. We have a very robust pipeline of business, so we have to manage that through maturing our client services group, which has done a fantastic job. We want to layer in some folks there,” Massey said.
