McDonald’s is bringing back the excitement of Pokémon with its latest Happy Meal collaboration. Starting Jan. 21, customers can get their hands on a special Pokémon-themed Happy Meal that includes a Pokémon Trading Card Game booster pack, a poster, and a sticker sheet.
Each booster pack contains four of the 15 available Pokémon TCG cards, featuring various fan-favorite Dragon-type Pokémon. The Happy Meal boxes also come in one of four designs showcasing characters like Charizard, Pikachu, Dragonite, Rayquaza, and Roaring Moon. “There’s nothing more exciting than when we can bring campaigns to our fans with partners that we’re fans of ourselves,” said Guillaume Huin, Senior Marketing Director at McDonald’s.
“Much like they do for McDonald’s, our fans have deep nostalgia and love for the Pokémon brand. We’re thrilled to build on those great memories and create a new moment of fun and happiness with the new Pokémon Happy Meal.”
Customers who order through the McDonald’s app will receive an extra bonus for the Pokémon TCG Pocket app. They will get a one-time redeemable code to unlock in-game rewards, including pack hourglasses and wonder hourglasses, which allow players to open digital booster packs and select a randomized digital card.
Happy Meal brings Pokémon joy
In addition to the Happy Meal promotion, Pokémon GO players can visit participating McDonald’s locations across the United States to take part in special events. From now until the end of March, select McDonald’s restaurants will serve as Pokémon GO PokéStops where players can participate in five-star raids and encounter Pokémon drawn by active Lure Modules.
The key participation weeks for the Pokémon GO activation are Jan. 20 – Jan. 26, Feb.
10 – Feb. 16, and March 10 – March 16. This collaboration between McDonald’s and Pokémon aims to tap into the nostalgia and popularity of the Pokémon franchise while offering fans an exciting opportunity to collect exclusive TCG cards and enjoy in-game rewards.
The Pokémon Happy Meal will be available at participating McDonald’s locations nationwide, while supplies last.
