Tesco, one of the UK’s largest supermarket chains, has announced a major change affecting 400 of its stores starting today. The company is expanding its same-day delivery and collection services, offering customers more flexibility and earlier access to both home delivery and collection slots across the country. Previously, Tesco’s same-day click+collect slots began at 4pm, while home delivery slots were only available from 7pm.
With this new initiative, customers will be able to book click+collect slots from midday until 8pm, providing more same-day opportunities. Home delivery slots will now be available from 1pm until 11pm. To take advantage of these enhanced same-day slots, customers must place or amend their order by 8:45am that day via Tesco’s website or app.
Tesco extends same-day delivery hours
The new slots are available as part of Tesco’s Anytime Delivery Saver and Click+Collect Delivery Saver plans. Customers on Off Peak plans or using the Pay As You Go option will still need to pay the respective slot price.
A small additional surcharge remains in place for all same-day slots, priced at £2 for home delivery and £1 for click+collect. Tom Denyard, Tesco’s Online Managing Director, said, “We are excited to have rolled out more same-day opportunities for customers to get an online slot, offering customers more spaces – and therefore more flexibility – than ever before. This allows them to book closer to their delivery or collection time and therefore improve our market-leading customer experience.”
According to the supermarket, Tesco now offers same-day slots which are at least four hours earlier than the earliest slot offered by any other full-line retailer in the UK, excluding rapid delivery propositions.
The process for booking slots remains unchanged, with the newly available times clearly displayed on the booking page. This move by Tesco aims to provide customers with greater convenience and flexibility when it comes to their grocery shopping needs.
